Dear Friends of Marion Harding High and Grant Middle Schools,
We are making an appeal on behalf of the students of Marion City Schools who aspire to play sports, participate in the band, and/or other extracurricular activities but do not have the financial means to do so. Times have changed since we were in school. Today, both Harding High and Grant Middle schools have a Pay to Participate fee. If a student wants to participate in any sport, band, and/or other extracurricular activities, the student’s family must first pay the fee which is $50.00 at Harding and $25.00 at Grant per year. In our current economy, many families struggle to afford this expense. Participating in extracurricular activities should be enriching and proud moments in lives of students and their families. However, this added expense can be very stressful for families.
With the help of many generous people in the Marion Community and beyond, we created The Prexy Play endowed scholarship fund through the Marion Community Foundation to offer this needed support to deserving high school students and their families.
Our initial goal was to raise $5,000.00 to begin the fund. With the help of people like you who understand the positive impact of being a part of a team, we have exceeded this goal.
Please take a moment to consider this opportunity to give back to the community. All donations can be made to the Marion Community Foundation (Please include Prexy Play in the memo line of any check). Donations are tax deductible.
If you are planning a class reunion and want to include a charitable fundraiser as part of your event, consider giving to Prexy Play. Giving back to your community and high school can make a huge impact on future alumni. For more details please contact Nicolle Brooks at email@example.com.
For those in need of financial assistance, applications for The Prexy Play Scholarship can be found in the Harding High athletic office.
Thank you! With Presidential Pride,
